President’s Message
Well, here we are in the depths of winter, and I hope you are managing to avoid the winter chills. As you will be aware our President Rod Collins and his wife Julitha are continuing on the last stages of their trip to South America and the Galápagos Islands, and I am pleased to provide you with this month’s club message in his absence.
The month of July was a little different with our lunch on 18th held at the Baringo Wine and Co restaurant, New Gisborne. Thirty-eight members, family and friends attended on the day making their way by car or train. It was noted some travelled by car from 2 hours away. It was great to see Ex Secretary Alan Kealy and his wife attend as well. The club purchased a few bottles of wine for those attending in appreciation of their effort, all other costs were paid for by the attendees. Attendees enjoyed the day with some suggesting the venue be considered whenever the Angliss Restaurant is unavailable.
By now you should have received the invitation to our next luncheon to be held on 15th August. This is our annual lunch dedicated to the late John Forbes OAM KGSJ in recognition of John’s significant contribution to the XL1 Club over many, many years. A number of special guests will be joining us, and we will also have a couple of surprise auction and raffle items. This promises to be a great day so be sure to clear your diary and come join us.
August will be a big month as the Club will also be launching our new website. The XL1 Club website will provide members with on-line access to information about the Club, upcoming events, and historical information and photos. The website will also enable members to register and pay for lunches on-line. This will be optional as the usual registration and payment options of EFT, or at the door with cash or tap&go will remain. More information will be provided during the month with full details of the launch date and web address.

IMPORTANT MESSAGE
Please note William Angliss Restaurant is a teaching organisation and due to current employment agreements, they are required to close during university holiday periods. This has had an impact on our monthly lunch dates with lunches now held on the third Thursday of the month. Please note and diarise these changes, and advise your colleagues with no internet access, to prevent members turning up on the incorrect day.
Also a reminder, that as from 1 July, the cost of the lunch for members and guests is now $80 per head.

Subscription Reminder
2024/25 Annual subscriptions renewals are now due. The annual fee remains at $35.
New members who joined after our April lunch this year are not required to pay the renewal fee for this year.
Subscription fees may be paid by EFT online, or at the club lunches by cash or tap&go.
Welfare of members
